We believe in embodiment as a powerful state of being that allows for health, easeful relationships, and joy. Through the practices of Contact Improvisation, Authentic Relating, Acro Yoga, Ecstatic Dance, Meditation, and more, we seek to live a fuller, deeper life, exploring what it means to be connected with fulfillment.

Camp Contact is an experiential space that asks questions such as: What is human connection? How can we co-create and collaborate better?  What are the protocols for building coherence and emergence, particularly in a decommodified space?

Camp Contact is devoted to providing a space for Contact Improvisation Dance & related forms at Burning Man and other regional events. We gather to offer classes and workshops in dance spaces we erect, and to be part of a temporary, intentional community that values awareness and conscious intention while celebrating dance. Our theme camp infrastructure includes a kitchen, showers, shade structures, and other amenities. In addition to Contact Improv, workshops we've offered include other somatic and contact practices & topics such as Thai Massage, Acroyoga, energy work, eye-contact jams, Authentic Relating, Action Theatre & more.

How:

We attend various festivals across the United States, with a strong preference for festivals that follow Burning Man's 10 principles.

History:

Camp Contact was started in the Spring of 2007 when a few friends got together, built a dome, and went to Playa Del Fuego, a regional Burning Man event that, at the time, was held in Delaware. Since then, we've expanded to going to 9+ festivals a year.   In 2008, Darrell took on leadership of Contact Camp at Burning Man, which had been running since 2005, and renamed it Camp Contact.
